Sore face but an alright day at school

Jupiter is still quite miserable with his sore face but he hung in there and stayed at school and came home on the bus.
He had lots of fun in PE today.

Licking cycle again

Jupiter started licking and wiping his face again yesterday morning.
It's already quite chapped and raw.
He seems cranky and very uncomfortable from it which is typical when he does this.

We have tried applying lotions and creams. We have also tried telling him to stop to no avail.
The cycle needs to play out and it will heal within about a week.

Great SCL session with Susan

Jupiter went to Doanes park with Susan for SCL today.
They raced and ran at the park and sang to the music in her car.
I love that Jupiter is singing to music in the car and on the bus these days.

We will miss you Heather

Good luck Heather! Thank you for working with Jupiter and we will miss you.

Singing on the bus

The bus driver said he and Jupiter were singing to the radio on the way home and having a great time!

Last night we went to Hy-Vee for a pasta dinner and then took a walk on the bike trail.

School and science center with Erika

Today Jupiter went to the science center with Erika for SCL. Erika said he was jumping up and down and laughing when they got there!

School was a bit better today. I am wondering if Wednesdays having a different schedule is upsetting for Jupie.

Music and art at school

Jupiter enjoyed music and art but had a rough transition back to the classroom.
He hit his teacher today when she asked if he wanted some fruit and said on his talker he wanted noodles but put the noodles for lunch back in the fridge.
There is early out on Wednesdays. I am suspicious that he was angry about the routine being off today.

Science center 1/23 with Heather

Jupiter went to the science center today with Heather for SCL.

They saw a big turtle. Jupiter likes to play with the airgun where you launch paper airplanes.

There is also a picture of a ball maze that he enjoyed.

Today at school January 24th

Jupiter needs a bigger backpack and skin moisturizer.

First day of school January 23rd

Jupiter seemed happy to be back at Brubaker today.

He has a visual schedule and also a nice matching activity using the words that he has in his vocabulary. I predict a day with a high rate of success for him!

I'm excited to see that school, what we do at home, and SCL are complementing each other.

Deleting buttons oh my!

Jupiter deleted a bunch of buttons on his talker. we discovered that he deleted them when he was in his first SCL session with Susan and he acted like he wanted to say something and was very frustrated that he could not find the button to express himself on his talker.

I had forgotten that the talker is set to backup automatically every day and so I was scrambling to find ways to replace the buttons as quickly as possible.

Luckily nothing was lost and all is restored to normal and the upside of the experience was that I came up with better organizational ideas for button placement.

Camp weekend

Jupiter went to camp this weekend.
He was very excited to go on Friday night.
On Saturday afternoon he stayed in bed most of the day and chose not to go swimming or play on the playground. The staff thought he was getting sick.

Jaymon picked him up from camp on Saturday evening and when he got home he was full of energy and acted like he was feeling fine.

On Sunday he had his first day of SCL with Susan and they are going to the historical building.

Balloons from the dollar store

Today we went to the dollar store and bought balloons. I picked the bright yellow.

When we came home we did some more work.

My new speaker for my iPod

Now I am easier to hear.
My iPod connects to the speaker using Bluetooth.
